Associate Professor Rob Baird

A/Professor Baird FRACP (Infectious Diseases) FRCPA (Microbiology) is the Director of Pathology for the Northern Territory public pathology service comprising some 150 staff spaced over 1.5 million square kilometres and 5 laboratories. In addition to clinical microbiology, research, and infectious disease experience, he has skills in governance, risk management and safety, & financial planning having overseen the restructure of Territory Pathology which brought the management and development of five laboratories under one structure. A/Professor Baird serves on a number of Commonwealth, professional and territory-wide expert groups. He restructured the Northern Territory Government Pathology Service while working as a full-time microbiologist and infectious diseases physician. He has interests in infection control and antimicrobials susceptibility. This includes skills in governance, risk management and safety, & financial planning having overseen the restructure of Territory Pathology which brought the management and development of five laboratories under one structure.
